Packing is a good time.
I’m at that stage in the packing process where I can’t tell if I’m actually making progress or if I’m just making everything worse. Stuff. Is. Everywhere. I’ll finally get one thing finished and then I turn around and there’s something else that I hadn’t even thought of yet. As it turns out, even when you don’t think you have that much crap, YOU...
The advantages of moving.
Okay, so let’s be real here. The moving process pretty much sucks. There is so much packing and cleaning and when you’re finally done that, there’s the lifting and unpacking and cleaning again. It’s not all that fun. However, this week I have discovered something great about moving. Since I packed up pretty much all of my kitchen stuff at the beginning of the week, I...
Moving right along.
I’m moving on the 31st, so this week will mostly be about packing up my house and taking breaks to drink and hang out with buddies. Today I decided to start with some of the kitchen stuff. So far I’ve taken out the boxes and put them in the middle of the floor. Now I’m on the Internet.
This might take longer than I had initially anticipated. Wheeeeee!

Public Service Announcement
You’ve got to be careful this time of year. It doesn’t take long for it to happen. You stop paying attention for just a minute and suddenly BOOM! That cooking show is over and now Patrick Swayze is on TV, saying some stupid shit about Santa to some dumb little kid who can’t even spell Los Angeles correctly.
Those holiday movies are everywhere, man. They’ll get ya if...

Open 24 hours.
Christmas is pretty much the only time around here where things are actually open late. It’s a very novel concept to me, this “open 24 hours” thing. Not many places around here are open 24 hours, or even after 11, for that matter. I just love the idea of being able to pop over to the giant grocery store at 2am to shop for pants.
Not that I’d ever really take advantage of...
Phone calls with Dad.
“Helloooooo?”
“Hey, Dad!”
“Oh, hello daughter! Sorry, but your mom isn’t here right now. She went to America with her very best friend in the whole wide world.”

Let it go, man.
So I’ve been stressing a lot lately about a situation that I really don’t have very much control over. I’ve really let it get to me. Like, to the point where I walk around all day with my shoulders tensed up, my jaw clenched and my stomach in knots. Today, though, I finally figured something out. I’ve got to let it go. Instead of worrying about what might happen later,...
A 40 foot limousine.
Commuting on public transit is never really all that fun. It’s usually crowded and smelly and hot and slow and generally just all kinds of lame. But during the week before and the week after Christmas, it’s downright delightful.
The school kids are at home, the college kids are gone and everyone else takes time off work. This means the rest of us get to travel in luxury. A whole row...

Christmas Movies
My sister and I used to always watch “While You Were Sleeping”. Mostly just for this one scene where the paper delivery boy is riding a bike and when he throws a paper HE TOTALLY BAILS SO HARD. THE FRONT WHEEL WOBBLES AND EVERYTHING. SO GOOD.
Watching people fall down really warms my heart, you know?
Oops.
I meant to follow a colleague from the work Twitter account but I accidentally did it from my Twitter account and then I quickly unfollowed and yeah I really hope he doesn’t notice. HAHA

Alone.
So I’ve been living alone for the past few months and I’m not sure if it’s for me or not. I have enjoyed certain aspects of it very much. You don’t have to wear pants, you can be messy if you feel like it, you can watch whatever you want on tv. You make all of the rules. You can even say that the rule is THERE ARE NO RULES if you feel like it. (Which I do, because I am a...

My thought process after seeing a dead raccoon on...
AHHHHHH!!!
Gross.
Poor little guy.
Is it frozen?
Do raccoons get rigor mortis?
Oooooh I bet it’s rigor mortis.
They’re going to use it for science!!
Awesome.

Can we just talk about this for a moment?
That was a bold move, Boardwalk Empire. I can’t decide if it was awesome or the worst thing ever. GUH.
I AM ALIVE
So the dentist doesn’t kill you after all. WHO KNEW? My dentist was pretty awesome about it and gave me a super-mega discount. All I had to do for it was put up with some minor pain and a little bit of shaming for having not gone to see her in a billion years.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
A filling just fell out. I am freaking out. This is likely due to a recurring dream I’ve had since childhood where all my teeth fall out. I’m genuinely afraid of losing all my teeth. I think about it all the time. I also have no dental insurance, so that’s fun too. Ughhhhhhhhh I am going to pass out!!!!

It's tricky.
It’s hard when the only feedback you get on your work is from people who are not writers and have never been writers. The hard part is not hearing that you need to make changes, (because that would happen anyways) but rather it is trying to interpret what is being asked of you.
You see, account people speak a different language entirely and this is why the process is so frustrating. They...
The world is full of possibilities.
You could even grow your own pineapples! It’s true! I looked it up!
Sheila Is a Pink Ricky
I have this weird Ramones live album that I picked up somewhere when I was a teenager. I used to listen to it all the time, not because it was good, but because it was horrible. My very favourite song to listen to was “Sheena Is A Punk Rocker”, which in this particular version sounded more like “Sheila Is A Pink Ricky”.
So obviously, that is how I always sing that song....
